ray kappe/kitchen

I mentioned last week I was looking through all my images of kitchens. I really love the quality of light in this one of Ray Kappe's kitchen.  All the window and skylight placement in his home is really phenomenal, not to mention his use of electric blue with avocado accents. Even the apron is the right blue...

This is one of the other kids rooms at Ray Kappe's home. I think this one is my favorite because of the configuration of the beds. It is the perfect room for a sleepover.

ray kappe/kids room

One of the chapters that did not make it into Handcrafted Modern was on Ray Kappe's home in Pacific Palisades. I really love the images from his home, though. It seems unjust to not share them. This is from one of the kid's bedrooms. The way the windows are placed create truly beautiful light don't you think?

color/ray kappe

An other from Ray Kappe's home. I also love the royal blue with the avocado carpet.

color/ray kappe

I have been working with a color consultant on a job recently and it has reawakened my fascination with color - namely the combining of interesting color combinations. So many of the houses I have shot for Handcrafted Modern have a unique color sense, but two in particular come to mind. Ray Kappe's home in Pacific Palisades is one of them (more on the other home later in the week). Although it is not in the final version of my book, I wanted to share some of the images here. I love the royal blue with the wood.

ray kappe/outake

Pic of the day for today is an outake from Ray Kappe's house. He had such an immense collection of books I had to move a couple of piles. As I looked back, the light was hitting them just right...as you can see.
