euro book sneak peek/bruno mathsson

It has been a quandry for me - what to show from the new book and how much? There is something to be said for keeping things under wraps until all is done, but I get so excited about stuff while I am shooting it and want to share it with all of you! It is one of the best things about getting to do what I do. I've decided if I shot it on my iphone, it can go on the blog here as a sneak peek...I hope this works. So today, one of my favorite images from Bruno Mathsson's house. I cannot imagine some version of this not making it in the book. I swear I can sense Bruno sitting in that chair looking out the window at his sublime view. The silence at his house is really profound. All you hear is the wind in the trees.

le suburbs/

Can't you just hear the sprinklers starting up when you look at this? Every Monday night as I am leaving San Jose, I notice this happening all over the neighborhood my Mom and sister live in. It feels so summer to me. So American. Today I finally stopped and took a picture of it. I got a little wet but it was worth it.

the sounds of summer/part 2

Awhile back I was lamenting about how I missed the sounds of summer. In San Francisco, this summer has been really cold and foggy. Yes, I know... typical...but this year has seemed unusually bad (or my threshold low?).  An unexpected invite to a friends lake house rental has cured me of this craving for awhile. When I opened the car door after the drive from brooklyn, there it was...crickets! (I think I gasped.) I fell asleep to a fantastic bug serenade!
The view was pretty nice as well as you can see. A perfect little rest before this intense week of shooting and meetings.
