Venturing out to get coffee yesterday I had to make a U-turn to shoot these colors in the harsh sun. As everyone is bundling up and pulling out sweaters, I have to admit I am seasonally confused. I know it is from all the jumping from northern Europe to southern Europe repeatedly and the fact that I was working all summer long. I find myself scratching my head thinking "where did summer go?" Maybe that is why the colors here are so appealing and the way the harsh sun makes them almost disappear. They are suggestions of color. Now if I could just sit in this sun and let my mind wander untethered for about an hour...

le suburbs/
Can't you just hear the sprinklers starting up when you look at this? Every Monday night as I am leaving San Jose, I notice this happening all over the neighborhood my Mom and sister live in. It feels so summer to me. So American. Today I finally stopped and took a picture of it. I got a little wet but it was worth it.

nostalgia/
A hazy lazy picture taken in a friend's garage awhile back. I guess some would consider this junk, but I am always rather happy after a good rummage when my hands are covered in dust. Clearly this racket has seen better days, but when I saw all this sitting there it just felt like I was in another time and there were people out on the lawn waiting for me to come and play some badminton. Maybe I have watched too many BBC dramas...
Happy weekend, friends.

summer cravings/
What can I say? It was 70 in San Francisco yesterday and I did not get a thing done beyond keeping my meetings. I mean...I got some stuff done but all I could think of was summer. Swimming in lakes and even batting away mosquitoes. At the very least I am going to bask in the sun like a cat this weekend...
hope you take some time to do the same. Kisses friends!

the sounds of summer/part 2
Awhile back I was lamenting about how I missed the sounds of summer. In San Francisco, this summer has been really cold and foggy. Yes, I know... typical...but this year has seemed unusually bad (or my threshold low?). An unexpected invite to a friends lake house rental has cured me of this craving for awhile. When I opened the car door after the drive from brooklyn, there it was...crickets! (I think I gasped.) I fell asleep to a fantastic bug serenade!
The view was pretty nice as well as you can see. A perfect little rest before this intense week of shooting and meetings.

nostalgia/the sounds of summer
Another image from my photographic past that I shot in Sharon, GA. I ran across this yesterday and it just made me crave the sound of cicadas and the feel of summer heat on my skin. San Francisco has been a bit chilly lately (typical July/August weather). But the heat is secondary to my craving for the sounds of summer. I feel like I haven't heard a cricket chirp in a year. Just thinking of those sounds makes me a bit wistful.
Have a great weekend friends! Hope you experience a bit of summer wherever you happen to be.
