the beauty of decay/shacks

I fell in love with a shack when I was in Mendocino a few weeks ago. I don’t know what it is about old abandoned structures that have been left to slowly fall down but they are like a magnet to me. I see a diginity in them. This one used to be a garage by the looks of it. Two old tires side at opposing corners and one has been blessed by a friendly vine.
A bit of quiet news. I have a finished all the chapters for my book. I say quiet because there is still so much to do, but I see the book – images and words are down and it is looking beautiful. Just waiting for the edits and first design directions now…anxiously waiting…

color and patina/

decaying greenhouse/denmark

There is something about a building that is being allowed to break down that I am consistently drawn to. This greenhouse was on the grounds of the Odrupgaard Museum in Denmark, a stonesthrow from Finn Juhl's House and a Zaha Hadid structure. And here it sits, with memories of it's former glory still evident, at least to me. It makes me wistful. Goodness, I hope they restore it.

irving harper/

I have been wondering what Irving Harper's Barn is looking like lately. Are there more sculptures in there? Have these disintegrated more? There is something so sadly beautiful in how these pieces of art he made are slowly just falling apart. Soon there might just be the skeleton hanging there and a pile of string on the floor. Wish I could shoot that...

daily life/location scouting

I love location scouting. Yesterday it was the Headlands Center for the Arts. Just my cup of decaying tea...
