changes are afoot/ pic of the day is moving

Hello dear friends,
It has been awhile! Hope you have all been well. I have been taking a summer vacation since launching Modern Originals,  but I am getting ready to return with new posts and lots of news. Just wanted to let you know about a bit of a change. I will no longer be posting to this site for Pic of the Day. In fact, I have a new website up and will be posting to the Pic of the Day section there from now on. So head over to lesliewilliamson.com and I'll get to posting in a few days. Look forward to reconnecting with you all soon!

frank lloyd wright in tokyo/pt. 2

I am a sucker for a good chalkboard. This one in is the the private school that Frank Lloyd Wright built in Tokyo - the Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan. I visited when I was in Tokyo this past November. I wasn't there long but I did shoot a bit and I plan do a proper post on it soon. Until then, lets dream about chalk, erasers, chalk dust and all those other obsolete classroom necessities of the past...

Modern Originals/ the almost print set

I thought I would share another print set. I ended up not offering this one for the Kickstarter but I really love it. Maybe I'll set up an online shop for my prints...who knows.

kickstarter print sets/

I just posted a couple of limited edition print sets for my Kickstarter supporters today. I love them so much I had to share them here too. And I guess this also qualifies as a tiny sneak preview to Modern Originals which comes out in April. These look so pretty when printed at their larger, 16x20" size...

axel vervoordt/antwerp

I made a visit to the breathtaking HQ and home of Axel Vervoordt earlier this week. Here is just a tease image from his home since I have not had a moment to edit the images yet. I've been shooting non stop. But more soon. It is beyond beautiful there...

torino, italy/

I've been away awhile. Hope you all have been enjoying the summer.
Today a quick post from an incredible apartment in Torino, Italy. I ran across it the other day while looking through images of Carlo Mollino's apartment for my new book, Modern Originals.
I'll post more. I swear. ; )

radio silence/

There will be a bit of radio silence on the blog for awhile - just pictures every now and then. I am reworking the writing for the chapters of Modern Originals and the deadline is breathing down my neck. So I am putting blinders on...
Be back asap.  xx

sometimes you just don't get it/but then again you do

While I was in The Springs, NY last weekend I was lucky enough to pay a visit to this place - the home of a painter and gardener. And as we sat and chatted with him I was just mesmerized by this beautiful little still life sitting before me. I asked if I could take a picture of it and as I shot I knew I wasn't getting it - I wasn't capturing the something that I was feeling. I still like the image but I am a little frustrated as well. But some things are meant to be experienced and not photographed. And my experience here has had an impact. I am seeing parts of the world through changed eyes.

lindsey adelman showroom/

I really didn't shoot that much at ICFF this year (as in hardly at all), but I did take out my camera at Lindsey Adelman's showroom. It is a gorgeous space made even more beautiful by her lighting. I'll share more in the next post, but I love this quiet image for today.

hans wegner/charles delisle

Just back from a shoot in Santa Barbara this past weekend and thought I would share an image from it because I  loooove it! A Hans Wegner throne and an amazing rug. Not sure who did the rug, but Charles DeLisle did the interiors. Pretty...

the beauty of decay/shacks

I fell in love with a shack when I was in Mendocino a few weeks ago. I don’t know what it is about old abandoned structures that have been left to slowly fall down but they are like a magnet to me. I see a diginity in them. This one used to be a garage by the looks of it. Two old tires side at opposing corners and one has been blessed by a friendly vine.
A bit of quiet news. I have a finished all the chapters for my book. I say quiet because there is still so much to do, but I see the book – images and words are down and it is looking beautiful. Just waiting for the edits and first design directions now…anxiously waiting…
