Ran a across a cabinet of George Nakashima's books that I shot while working on Handcrafted Modern. How I love this shot with the flare in the corners...

handcrafted modern/outtakes/zeisel

I found it interesting that Eva Zeisel really did not have a lot of reference books. I asked her about it and she said, "what do I need with books when I have nature? Nature is my inspiration." There were a lot of books in the house, though. I was told they were her daughters. I did notice this little drawing that I liked. I think it was by Eva but I am not certain. And then I found this book. It seemed to sum up what she told me. I decided the book "Landscape into art" MUST be Eva's...right?

handcrafted modern/outtakes/on their bookshelves...

I have been trying to decide on which outtakes to show you all this week and I finally came to the decision to show you everyones bookshelves. I got really interested in what everyone had on their bookshelves.
Walter Gropius' was one of my favorites  because he had a bunch of books on birds of New England (seen here). Then I noticed he had two sets of binoculars on his desk. I imagined him and his wife both watching birds out their office window.
